CSA Basket FAQ
Let us tell you all about our summer CSA basket subscription and see if it's the right fit for you. We think it will be!
What is CSA
CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is a popular farming model that partners farmers (that’s us!) with members (that’s you!) to support the future success of the farm. By investing early in the season you help us make the investments needed to make the coming season as fruitful as possible, while also guaranteeing yourself a share of that success in the form of delicious organic vegetables!
That first sweet cherry tomato flavour bomb that you bite into actually starts its life months before the heady days of summer. In the depths of winter we are hard at work planning the coming season; calculating the seeds and plants needed, planning the planting and fertilisation schedule, propagating and transplanting, and then come summer we are tending and harvesting, all in order to bring that cherry tomato into the world. It’s a labour of love, but it’s also hard work and commitment. Your early investment allows us to do what we love, bring amazing food to our community, while you get to do what you love, eat!

What’s in my CSA
Every week your CSA basket will be filled with a specially curated selection of organic, farm grown, seasonal vegetables that are at absolute peak freshness.
This season we’re growing more than 50 varieties of vegetables across the Farm. Everything from early spring radishes and greens, to summer tomatoes and peppers, and then beautiful beets and those sweet and crunchy carrots we are developing quite the reputation for.
See something you’re not fond of? No problem!
The beauty of our super flexible, super customisable CSA is that you get to choose what goes in your box from week to week. You’ll come into the Farm Store and then choose what you and your family would like from the selection available that week. Don’t like kale? No problem, swap it for something else. Want nothing but tomatoes this week? Get ‘er done with a big box of beauties.
What’s in it for me?
So much! By investing in a CSA you are investing in your health, the environment, and your community. CSA is a simple way to lighten your carbon footprint, be an engaged global citizen, and foster a greater connection with your food. Who knew that a small change in how you fill your fridge could have such a huge impact on the world?
As a farm member you also get 10% more veggies in your CSA share than you paid for - talk about a great, green investment option for your portfolio!
In addition, CSA members get preferential access to certain veggies that we don't grow much of, or veggies that are in short supply at certain times of the season, like the very first cherry tomatoes in June.
Do you deliver?
We have decided that our focus is best spent in designing and producing Ottawa’s most flexible and customisable CSA, and are therefore foregoing home delivery at this time.
Do I lose my baskets when I’m away on vacation?
Absolutely not! We’ve got you covered.
When you register via the website simply tell us how many weeks you’d like off and we’ll adjust the price accordingly. No questions asked.
If you're not sure how many weeks you'll be away over the summer, no problem, you can always pick up multiple baskets in one visit to get back on track!
Do I have to pay all at once?
Definitely not. We want our CSA to be accessible to as many people as possible so we offer flexible payment options.
Choose between paying in one instalment, or multiple (3 or 4) equal instalments. An admin charge applies for the insalment option.
I have more questions!
