We’re so lucky to have an abundance of green space here in Ottawa, and we don’t just mean here on the Farm! We’re nestled right amongst Ottawa’s Greenbelt, and it turns out there are five different NCC trails within a ten-minute drive of Ottawa Farm Fresh!
This stunning boardwalk is universally accessible and carries you through a unique bog that’s over 7,700 years old! The hike is only 1.5 km long, although you can make it longer (8.5 km) by starting from P21. The Mer Bleue Boardwalk is open year-round.
As a bonus, this hike is part of the #StarterEdition of the Adventure Report Ottawa Hiking Challenge! There are 10 easy, beautiful hikes on the #StarterEdition that need to be completed to finish the challenge.
And this year, Ottawa Farm Fresh is sponsoring the #StarterEdition, giving away a $25 Farm Store gift card to the first 10 individuals/families who finish! Check out adventurereport.ca for more details.
Trail 51 is great for spotting birds swooping through the trees, any time of year. If you hike the entire length of it, you’ll cover about 7.5 km, but it’s made up of six different loops so you can go for a hike that’s as short or long as you like.
Trail 50 & the Dewberry Trail
Trail 50 is just across from 51, and the two connect, meaning you could spend all day on the trails if you wanted to! Trail 50 is 6.3 km long, with the option to add the Dewberry Trail for another km of hiking. These trails are flat and easy, like all the others in the Mer Bleue sector.

The Pine Grove trails are also part of the Starter Edition, chosen because the beautiful tall pines are so relaxing to walk amongst. These trails are just over 5.5 km in length, but so flat and wide that they feel more like a leisurely stroll.
Trail 45
Once again, trail planning in the Greenbelt allows for endless opportunities. Trail 45 starts at P19 but connects to the Pine Grove Trails as well. Trail 45 is just under 6.5 km on its own, making it a good long walk in its own right!
All together, there are just under 35 km of hiking trails within 10 minutes of the Farm! We can’t think of a better day than spending some time on the trails and then dropping by the Farm to stock up on some fresh veggies to refuel yourself with at home. We look forward to seeing you at the Farm soon, dirty boots and all!
