Growing Into 2026, Together

The turn of the year always feels a little magical on the Farm.

A quiet pause. A deep breath.

The fields resting under snow while big ideas quietly germinate underground. Farming has a way of teaching us that time isn’t linear, it’s cyclical, rhythmic, and patient. As we step into 2026, we’re feeling deeply grateful to be right here, doing this work: growing food, tending soil, and feeding our community with intention and care.

At its heart, Ottawa Farm Fresh is about flavour, nourishment, and trust. Food that tastes alive. Greens that crunch. Carrots so sweet they win over even the pickiest eaters. Tomatoes worth waiting all winter for. This year, we’re continuing our joyful obsession with running what we like to call the world’s best CSA, not by growing more and faster, but by growing smarter, tastier, and better. That means paying close attention to what thrives here, what nourishes our soil, and what truly delights the people who share their tables with us.

This past year has also brought some quiet but meaningful growth behind the scenes. We’ve been thoughtfully evolving how the Farm is managed, moving toward a more shared, collaborative model that spreads leadership and responsibility across the team. Jonathan remains the owner and steward of the Farm’s long-term vision, but decision-making is increasingly shared, with more voices at the table and more perspectives shaping how we move forward.

This work is very much a team effort.

Jenn brings warmth, steadiness, and care to the Farm Store and customer experience, making the Farm feel like a place you want to linger. Amanda leads communications, events, and outreach, weaving stories, sharing updates, and keeping our community connected. Thomas stewards the fields and growing systems, translating soil health, planning, and data into abundant harvests. Jonathan continues to guide the overall direction of the Farm, helping ensure it grows in a way that is resilient, values-driven, and deeply rooted in service. Supporting all of this is a wider team of dedicated folks, each bringing their own skills, vision, and care to the daily work of feeding our community.

Together, we’re intentionally shaping a Farm that’s about more than any one person. A Farm built on shared responsibility, thoughtful systems, and a gradual movement toward a worker-empowered, steward-led model. The goal is simple (and big): to grow the very best food we can, care for the land that feeds us, and be of genuine service to the community we’re part of. Because what we put into our bodies, and how we go through life, really does matter.

As you step into your own 2026, we invite you to slow down with us for a moment. To notice what’s nourishing you. To reflect on what you’re growing, in your kitchen, your work, your relationships, and your life. We’re so grateful to be part of your year, your meals, and this shared experiment in growing something beautiful together.

With gratitude,
Jonathan, Jenn, Amanda, Thomas & the whole Ottawa Farm Fresh Team
